FOREST JC2026 – Pre-announcement
|
The FOREST Partnership plans to officially launch its first Joint Call for Proposals (JC2026) on 15 September 2026 under the theme: FORESTPathways: Building Knowledge and Solutions for Resilient Forests and Sustainable Forest-Based Futures.
|
The first Joint Call of the European Partnership FOREST brings together 38 research funding organisations (RFOs) from 28 countries. The total indicative call budget, including EU co-contribution, is over EUR 40 million.
|
|
The call is expected to include four main topics:
|
Topic 1: Climate-Resilient Forest Systems
Topic 2: Adaptive and Multifunctional Forest Management Systems
Topic 3: Timber and Innovative Wood-Based Products
Topic 4: Forest Value Chains, Markets and Governance
|
The precise topics are still to be defined by the participating funders; however, the call will encourage and make the best use of cross-sectoral, coherent and integrated perspectives.

- 15.09.2026 | Official launch of the FOREST JC2026
- 17.09.2026 | Information webinar: A webinar for interested applicants will take place on 17 September 2026 (10:00 CET). Participants will receive an overview of the call and a brief introduction to the submission and evaluation system.
- 30.09.2026 | In-person partnering workshop: The EUFORE Final Conference 2026 (29–30 September 2026, Brussels) will feature a dedicated matchmaking session to connect potential partners, foster collaboration, and support consortium building for future projects.
- 06.10.2026 | Networking webinar: On 6 October 2026 (10:00 CET), the FOREST partnership will host a networking webinar to facilitate partner matchmaking and support the formation and development of consortia.

You can also support the FOREST Partnership by becoming an expert evaluator for proposals submitted under the JC2026.
|
|
The partnership is seeking independent experts to assess research and innovation proposals. Researchers, practitioners and other stakeholders with recognised expertise relevant to the call’s topics and objectives are invited to express their interest. Expertise in interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research, innovation and practice is particularly welcome.

FOREST Momentum: From Strategy to Action
|
Over two days, EUFORE will join forces with the project MoniFun and the FOREST Partnership to connect researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders across Europe's forest sector.
|
On 29 September, from 12 to 6 PM CET, MoniFun will host a joint monitoring workshop that will address important questions such as:
|
- What are the critical information gaps in monitoring systems?
- What should research and innovation deliver?
- How should European forest monitoring be organised and funded?
On 30 September, from 9 to 4:30 PM CET, we will gather for the final EUFORE Stakeholder Event, where we will explore key topics such as:
|
- Building Momentum – Preparing the strategic policy and funding landscape for forest research in Europe, with keynotes from representatives of the European Commission.
- The Research, Funding and Innovation Landscape – Introducing a panel discussion exploring key gaps, funding priorities, the innovation landscape, and future developments in the forest sector.
- From Strategy to Action – Hosting discussions on forest research, policy pathways, funding perspectives, and the FOREST Partnership.
- Forest Partnering: Meet & Connect – A networking session designed to foster connections and collaboration among key stakeholders, with a focus on consortium building for the first joint call for proposals.

SAVE THE DATE – ForestValue2 and Booster Workshop to Strengthen Project Exploitation Capacities
|
ForestValue2 has applied for and been selected to receive support through the Booster programme. As part of this support, an online workshop entitled “How to Pitch in Front of Investors” will take place on 10 September from 10:00 to 11:30 CET.
|
|
The workshop is primarily intended for the four ForestValue2-funded projects: SOSFOR, TiRex, IFORPLAN and CRESTIMB and will provide practical guidance on how to effectively present project results to potential investors and funding bodies. Representatives of all ForestValue2 funding organisations are also warmly invited to participate.
|
|
During the session, participants will gain insights into the current investor and funding landscape and learn what investors and funding organisations expect from project pitches. The workshop will also cover how to structure a concise and compelling five-minute investor pitch, as well as practical presentation and storytelling techniques that can support future exploitation, commercialisation, and scale-up activities.
|
|
The training will be delivered by experts from the Booster programme and will serve as the first step towards a follow-up simulated pitch session involving two selected projects.
|

Join the webinar on Forest Health in a Changing Climate
The “Marin Drăcea” National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry (INCDS), Romania, invites researchers, policymakers, forest practitioners, and stakeholders to the international webinar “Forest Health in a Changing Climate: From Increasing Impacts of Pests and Diseases to Assisted Migration of Tree Species” on 15 October at 14:00 CET, in a hybrid format at Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania, with online participation available via Zoom.

The webinar will explore how climate change is affecting forest health across Europe, focusing on the growing impacts of pests and diseases, forest resilience monitoring, assisted migration of tree species, and biosecurity measures for prevention, mitigation, and long-term forest management. It aims to strengthen collaboration between policy, science, and practice at both national and pan-European levels.

Roadmap to a Resilient and Competitive European Forest-Based Sector
|
The Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) Roadmap has been finalised. The Roadmap sets out common priorities, technology readiness levels (TRLs), suitable funding instruments, and clear implementation timelines. It is the result of extensive stakeholder engagement, including regional and European consultations, numerous thematic workshops, and an online survey involving 266 experts across the community.
