A new scientific publication linked to the Scientific Cafés of the ForestValue2 project has been published in Urban Ecosystems by Springer Nature.
The article, “A three-step Scientific Café method to involve stakeholders and citizens in urban forest planning,” presents a practical three-step method for using Scientific Cafés to engage stakeholders and citizens in discussions and planning related to urban forests.
The authors are Sofia Baldessari, Thomas Campagnaro, Isabella De Meo, Pierangelo Miola, Davide Primucci, Serenella Puliga, Flora Giulia Simonelli, and Alessandro Paletto.
The study, developed in the context of ForestValue2, explores the use of a participatory Scientific Café approach in the planning of the peri-urban Carpaneda forest in Vicenza, Italy. The three-step process brought together collective stakeholders and local citizens, with their contributions subsequently integrated into a Participatory Masterplan.
The publication highlights how Scientific Cafés can support dialogue, inclusiveness and co-production of knowledge, offering an adaptable and low-cost approach to participatory urban forest planning.
